Lovely example of a chased Victorian coffee pot, and a rare example of work by Hugh Dunsheath & Co of Sheffield, UK
Made of silver electroplated metal, this sturdy coffee pot has a gorgeous chased repousse floral decoration around the main body, as well as the initial D on one side. I'm not sure if the D is for Dunsheath, or whether it was customised for the original client.
Dunsheath was based at 9 Eyre lane and 30 Arundel Street, Sheffield, as Silver & Plated Ware Manufacturer, with their hallmark registered at Sheffield Assay Office in 1907. Sadly they were out of business after 1931.
Stamped with the makers mark of H. DUNSHEATH and EP on the base.
Coffee pot dimensions;
Height, including handle= 24 cm
Height to lid= 16.3 cm
Max Base Diameter= 12 cm
In good antique condition- though it would still be usable as a coffee pot, but I doubt these would be considered food safe these days! Generally the silver plating shows tarnishing all over, which could be polished out, and the main body of the pot shows unevenness, plus some scratches both inside and outside of the base.
